About the Aoudad
The aoudad, or Barbary sheep, is a North African mountain sheep with heavy curled horns and long hair, called chaps, hanging from the throat and front legs. Rams grow horns past 30 inches.
Aoudad were brought to Texas in the 1950s and are now one of the best-known exotic sheep hunts in the state.

Hunting Aoudad at Black Eagle Ranch
Aoudad have sharp eyes and stay together in herds. Big rams usually stand back from the group. On the ranch they move across open pasture and rocky rises.
Look for heavy bases that stay thick all the way around the curl, along with long, flowing chaps.
