About the Père David's Deer
Père David's deer is one of the oddest-looking deer alive: a long tail, wide hooves made for swamp country, and antlers whose main tines point backward. Stags can even grow two sets of antlers in a year.
The species died out in the wild in China and survived only because of a small herd kept in England. Today it lives in a handful of places, and Black Eagle Ranch is one of them.

Hunting Père David's Deer at Black Eagle Ranch
These deer love water. At Black Eagle Ranch you'll find them wading the tanks and feeding along the edges, which makes for some of the best-looking hunts on the property.
Look for a stag with heavy, long antlers and a full set of rear-pointing tines. Few hunters anywhere have one on the wall.
